UI Trained Pharmacists on the Front Lines
Jay Currie, head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science in the UI College of Pharmacy, held a unique position in the late 1980s. He was working in a family medicine clinic in Cedar Rapids training resident physicians how to prescribe medication while also working directly with patients. Today, University of Iowa–trained pharmacists continue to fill this role across Iowa.
