Iowa Board of Regents

CYTown Development Lease

Iowa State University will request Board of Regents approval to advance its CYTown Development project, a 40-acre mixed use development located between Jack Trice Stadium and the Iowa State Center. If approved, the CYTown project will move forward with water, sewer and electrical easements and enter into an agreement with its first leased tenant, McFarland Clinic.

Previously, the Board authorized ISU to proceed with parking and infrastructure improvements within the CYTown development area. With those improvements underway or nearing completion, ISU is seeking Board approval to advance the project.

Notably, the Board will consider entering a 30-year lease agreement with McFarland Clinic for property located within the CYTown Development Area. If approved, McFarland will construct a 70-80,000 square foot, multi-level medical facility that will serve as an anchor tenant within CYTown. The facility would offer primary and specialty care and primarily provide ISU student-athletes convenient access to orthopedic services and imaging equipment. Additionally, the new facility would complement the ISU Thielen Student Health Center by providing after-hours and weekend services.

The McFarland lease is an early, but important step in the CYTown project.
